Arctic Lab
2017
Arctic Lab is a multi-media installation that uses light, sound, sculpture, drawing and digital animation to investigate the shifting Arctic marine ecosystem. As sea ice melts in the Arctic, and light enters the water column earlier in the year, a cascade of effects ripples through the Arctic marine ecosystem. Algae bloom out of control, block light for other organisms, fall to the ocean floor and throw off the balance of life in the Arctic Ocean. The longterm effects of these changes are unknown, but potentially catastrophic.
Arctic Lab surrounds the viewer with shifting light, animated algae and original sound, encouraging the viewer to have their own discovery about the Arctic marine environment.
